LAHORE: The situation in the Lahore High Court (LHC) turned ugly on Wednesday, when a large number of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) workers tried to storm into the court along with their party Chairman Imran Khan that broke the door of the courtroom and flowerpots within the court, Geo News reported.
While the highly alarmed LHC Chief Justice Umar Bandial ordered the court staff to conduct an enquiry into the incident and submit report.
PTI Chairman Imran Khan along with large number of party workers had arrived at LHC in connection with the hearing relating to the scrutiny of the electoral record of Lahore constituency NA-122 from where PML-N’s Sardar Ayaz Sadiq presently Speaker national assembly was declared elected. Election Commission on PTI petition had ordered for recounting of the votes cast in this constituency, while Ayaz Sadiq had challenged the decision of Election Commission in the LHC.
PTI workers on this occasion went out of control voicing slogans tried to storm into the courtroom along with their leaders that broke the door of the courtroom and the flowerpots within the court compound in the melee quite contrary to the decorum and respect of the court.
The court staff called for the police to bring the rowdy PTI workers under control, while the LHC Chief Justice expressing his strong annoyance over the ugly incident in his observations said that such an environment was contrary to the dignity of the court, which would not be tolerated and thereafter in utter disgust left the courtroom.
Imran Khan on his return from the court when approached by Geo correspondent refused to talk, saying his party has already declared a boycott of Geo News.
