Islamabad- In the wake of government’s plan to thwart the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s August 14 “azadi march “in Islamabad, the party leadership is considering change in venue of the rally.
The federal government has announced 15-day independence celebration plan apparently to thwart the PTI show. In this connection, a ceremony will be held outside the Parliament House. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and all three services chiefs will attend the ceremony.
A limited military parade will also be organized on the Independence Day. The government’s tactic has divided the opinion of PTI leaders who are now advising party leader Imran Khan to consider change in the rally venue.
Khan has reportedly sought suggestions from his stalwarts for an alternate venue. Sources said the PTI leadership has prepared a contingency plan in case the federal government detains Imran Khan and other leaders ahead of the Azadi March. Sources said Khan is resolute to hold the march, adding that four committees have been formed by the PTI to review arrangements of the march as Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Javed Hashmi have been tasked with mobilizing party workers in Punjab.
