MULTAN, Pakistan – A close relative of Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani was kidnapped on Monday by unidentified persons from the Garden Town area of Multan, a private TV channel reported.

The police confirmed the abduction of Umer Jillani who is identified as an official of an intelligence agency. Eyewitnesses said that the abductee was en-route to his office on his bike when four to five motorcycle-riding gunmen kidnapped him.

Multan has been put on alert and an investigation team was also constituted to investigate the latest kidnapping. The police was also directed to seal Multan and to conduct an extensive search for the recovery of Umer Jillani.

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif also took notice of the incident and directed the Regional Police Officer to utilise all efforts for the recovery of Umer Jillani and to keep him informed of every progress.
