Reason number 1,734 for why we want to be Blake Lively: she totally won the red carpet on the first day of the 67th Cannes Film Festival.
The 26-year old star of Gossip Girl, in town as the ambassador for L’Oreal Paris, looked stunning in a burgundy Gucci gown with a thigh-high split.
It follows ‘hot’ on the heels of her sartorial success, also in the Italian label (she’s the official ‘face’ of their Gucci Premiere scent), at the Met Gala in New York earlier this month, where she accessorised with hubby Ryan Reynolds (reason no. 5, after the face, the hair, those legs, the amazing dress sense…oh, the humanity). Walking the red carpet at the premiere of Nicole Kidman’s Grace of Monaco film, which opened the festival last night, she threatened to overshadow the film’s star who came under fire for her slightly ‘stiff’ appearance on the red carpet – and in the film itself which has been largely panned by critics, with one describing the Grace Kelly biopic as a ‘timeless camp classic’.
Nicole had a tricky opening day as her decision to star as Grace Kelly in the film which focuses on Grace Kelly’s early years as a princess was described as critics as ‘misjudged’, while the fashion press zeroed in on her ‘frozen’ and ‘puffy’ appearance in a morning photo call.
Last year, the actress said her dalliance with line-eliminating injections had been a brief one as she didn’t like the results, but her appearance on day 1 of Cannes led many to speculate that she’d gone back to Botox.
